Boho Crochet Cardigan: A Stunning Spring Photoshoot in Prague

Spread the love

It’s been quite a while since I last shared a post dedicated to our family life. To be honest, settling back in Prague has been overwhelming—ensuring a smooth transition for the kids from our move from the UK, choosing kindergartens and schools, navigating healthcare, and managing our business. Time has flown by, and most days, motherhood and the never-ending daily chores left me with little to no creative space for myself. Amid all this, I longed for a creative outlet, and working on my Boho crochet cardigan collection gave me just that.

After months of putting my own passions on the back burner, I finally told myself—it’s time to ask for help. I needed professional photos for my upcoming Boho Mum online store featuring handcrafted crochet outfits, and this time, I wasn’t going to attempt a DIY photoshoot. In the past, Jacob or I would take my photos whenever we could squeeze in a moment, but lately, with three little ones running around all the time, finding a moment has been nearly impossible.

I envisioned a dreamy photoshoot in the charming streets of Prague’s Old Town, featuring my Boho Crochet Cardigan. I knew it would be magical—but also knew that trying to make it work with the kids in tow would be a complete disaster (haha, they’re at that stage where they all run off in different directions!). Hiring a professional photographer felt like the only way to make it happen.

I stumbled upon Jana Holubová Photography on Facebook — well, more like Facebook’s algorithm worked in my favour, serving me her sponsored post at just the right time. She’s relatively new to photography, but her talent and potential were undeniable. Believe it or not, many photographers are technically skilled but lack true artistic vision, resulting in generic, fast-food-style images. I prefer fresh talent over overly polished, uninspired shots—and in this case, I was right.

We set the date just around Valentine’s Day and carefully planned all the details and possibilities. Finally, we decided on a beautiful route for our photoshoot — a charming stroll from Vodičkova Street through Franciscan Gardens, continuing to Na Perštýně Street, and ending at Uhelný Trh Street. This route turned out to be perfect for a one-hour street photoshoot, offering a mix of urban charm and hidden green spots.

From the moment I met Jana, I knew she was the perfect choice. She was incredibly kind, sympathetic, and full of fresh energy, radiating a youthful and artistic spirit. I absolutely love people like her — easy-going, creative, and able to cultivate a relaxed atmosphere, which is essential for a great photoshoot.

Do you remember when I mentioned technically skilled photographers who sometimes lack connection with the people they photograph? Well, Jana was the complete opposite — engaging, full of life, and effortlessly making the most of our one-hour shoot with her dynamic energy.

In Franciscan Gardens, we had a big giggles when our Valentine’s heart props, just after the first set of photos, literally flew away. We could only stand there and watch as they drifted off—it felt like a scene straight out of a movie, haha!

We tried as much as we could to focus on my Granny square Boho Crochet Cardigan, which I’ve named Pink Horizon Dreamweaver. The soft pink granny square pattern, woven with love, makes this cardigan a perfect spring layering piece. It’s crafted from eight different stylish yarns—terracotta, bordeaux red, pink, coral orange, peach orange, lavender, coastal ocean green, and khaki — each adding a unique bohemian flair to brighten up any outfit.

As we walked through Franciscan Gardens toward Na Perštýně, let me tell you—it was freezing! I was only wearing a long-sleeve t-shirt and my spring crochet cardigan, having decided not to bring a coat so I wouldn’t have to keep putting it on and off or burden the photographer. But the excitement of the shoot completely took over, and after the first set of photos in the garden, I forgot about the cold entirely! As we strolled through the streets of Old Town, I could feel how lightweight and cozy the cardigan was, even in the chilly air. Despite the cold, I loved how effortlessly it moved with me, making it perfect for both everyday wear and dreamy photoshoots like this one.

What makes this Boho Crochet Cardigan even more special is its origin. Designed in Britain and handcrafted in the Bohemian region of Central Europe, it was made by the talented mum-of-two, Petra, whose passion for knitting and crocheting shines through in every stitch. Supporting fellow mothers through my Boho Mum Shop is something I take great pride in—empowering women, embracing creativity, and celebrating free-spirited style.

Square near to Na Perštýně Street and the Uhelný Trh Street are so picturesque, with that classic European charm that works beautifully for this kind of photography. I absolutely loved the photoshoot in this setting! We even recorded a bunch of videos for Instagram Reels and Stories. Jana is truly talented, and her enthusiasm for both photography and video made the entire session flow so smoothly. I was genuinely surprised by how effortless and fun it all felt.
